The IFM O1D100 (type O1DLF3KG) laser distance sensor is used for level monitoring, positioning, collision protection and presence detection over long ranges up to 10 m. Its time-of-flight measurement with background suppression handles varying surfaces and oblique angles, making it suited to logistics, storage and handling, and machine automation. The alphanumeric display and IO-Link communication simplify setup, diagnostics and parameter transfer.
The O1D100 measures distance from 0.2 to 10 m against a white target (200 x 200 mm, 90% remission), with adjustable background suppression up to 19 m and a maximum light-spot diameter of about 25 mm at 10 m.
What type of laser does the O1D100 use, and is it eye-safe?
It uses a Class 2 red laser with a 650 nm wavelength and output power of no more than 4 mW (pulsed, 1.3 ns), compliant with EN/IEC 60825-1. It is safe for normal industrial use, but you should avoid staring directly into the beam.
How accurate and repeatable is the O1D100?
On a white target (90% remission) at 50 Hz, accuracy is +/-15 mm from 0.2 to 2 m and widens with distance (about +/-35 mm at 6 m); repeatability is +/-5 mm from 0.2 to 1 m. Running at 1 Hz improves accuracy further (about +/-14 mm from 0.2 to 1 m).
What outputs does the O1D100 provide?
Two PNP digital switching outputs, each configurable as normally open or normally closed (max 200 mA per output), plus one output that can be set as an analog 4-20 mA or 0-10 V signal (to IEC 61131-2).
Does the O1D100 support IO-Link communication?
Yes - IO-Link revision 1.1, COM2 (38.4 kBaud) to IEC 61131-9, with SIO (standard I/O) mode. It needs a Class A master port and has a 5 ms minimum cycle time, enabling remote parameter setting and diagnostics.
What is the O1D100's operating voltage and power consumption?
It runs on 18 to 30 V DC (cULus: Class 2 source required) and draws less than 150 mA, with reverse-polarity, short-circuit (non-latching) and overload protection built in.
