The Allen-Bradley 1770-KFD is an RS-232C-to-DeviceNet interface module that connects a computer's serial port to a DeviceNet network. It is powered directly from the DeviceNet network and provides Module, Network, and RS-232 status indicators. It is used for configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting DeviceNet devices from a PC. This product is discontinued (as of January 8, 2019) with 1784-U2DN listed as the replacement..

1770-KFD Applications

The 1770-KFD lets a PC access a DeviceNet network through a standard RS-232 serial connection for commissioning, configuration, and diagnostics with software such as RSNetWorx for DeviceNet. It draws its power from the DeviceNet network, so no external supply is required. Status LEDs for the module, network, and RS-232 link aid troubleshooting. As the module is discontinued, the USB-based 1784-U2DN is the recommended current replacement for new installations.
