1769-SM2 Applications

This communication module links Compact I/O and CompactLogix systems to Allen-Bradley PowerFlex drives through the DSI serial interface, and supports Modbus RTU master communication to serial field devices. Mounted on the 1769 bus, it lets controllers read and write drive parameters, control speed, and monitor status without dedicated point-to-point wiring. Typical uses include conveyor, pump, and fan applications where multiple low-horsepower drives must be coordinated from a single CompactLogix processor over a compact, DIN-rail-mounted I/O bank, simplifying integration and reducing panel wiring.
