The Allen-Bradley 1769-L31 is a legacy CompactLogix controller with 512 KB of controller memory (0.75 MB total) and RS-232 serial communication. It is part of the earlier CompactLogix 5330 controller family that mounts on the 1769 Compact I/O bus. This controller has been discontinued (end of life December 2016), with the 1769-L32E recommended as a migration replacement..

1769-L31 Applications

The 1769-L31 was used in mid-size machine and process applications requiring a CompactLogix controller with serial connectivity to HMIs, drives, or third-party devices. It mounts on the 1769 Compact I/O bus and is programmed with RSLogix 5000. As a discontinued product, it is typically encountered in legacy installations needing spares or repair. For new designs, Rockwell recommends migrating to the 1769-L32E or a current CompactLogix 5370/5380 controller.
